MEPPA11 - Molecular Evolution, Phylogenetics, Phylogenomics, and Adaptation

Course on Molecular Evolution, Phylogenetics, Phylogenomics and Adaptation
6th Edition. May 30 - June 03, 2011.

This 5-days course involves theoretical and computer practicals sessions that address different problems of evolutio nary biology and hypothesis testing. The course includes a session of phylogenomic analysis and functional annotation, including most recent developments in these areas. Attendees will get familiar with, among others, the following tools: Phylip, Phyml, PAML, TreePuzzle, MrBayes, Modeltest, ProTest, jModelTest programs, all of them integrated in the Phylemon web-server. The course is intended for professional biologists or chemists whose work involves the analyses of biological sequences.

Twelfth International workshop in Phylogenetic Methods

The Willi Hennig Society (WHS) has organized several international workshops on cladistics (Finland, Czech Republic, US). In Latin-America one has been offered in Argentina (2002) and two in Brazil (2008, 2010). This will be the first held in Mexico.

Lecturers:
The workshop will be presented by a combination of at least four or five professors, all members of WHS.

* Kevin Nixon (Cornell University).
* Christopher P. Randle (Sam Houston State University, Texas).
* John W. Wenzel (Carnegie Museum of Natural History, coordinator).
* Ward C. Wheeler (American Museum of Natural History).
